“WHY SHOULD WE TRAVEL??”

 “WHY SHOULD WE TRAVEL??”

First of all, this question “WHY SHOULD WE TRAVEL??” is a lame question, to be honest.😂

Come on!! Aren’t you bored with your regular hectic life? Aren’t you tired of running in this rat race of modern civilization? Haven't you had enough of this pathetic traffic jam in Dhaka city which can cause severe physical and mental problems, including stress and aggression?❓

Surely, you are. So do we need a break or a little relaxation? Yes, we do, and traveling will support us here. Now, if you’re an AI-oriented robot that’s a different thing.

Explaining the significance of traveling would be boring so let’s try to find out the answers by questioning ourselves and I am hopeful that those who don’t like to travel will surely agree to travel in the end.

Geography says every movement is purposeful. So, let’s start without any delay!

Does traveling help us to relax, experience life out of our comfort zone, & encourage adventure?

Traveling is an adventure. You don’t have to be in Jumanji to discover a whole new world beyond your imagination. You can just as easily experience an adventure with a short trip to a new place. Skydiving, hiking, Bungee jumping from a cliff, and picking up skills you never thought you’d learn in a hundred years like surfing or riding a horse can be some examples of adventure.

Most travelers' first objective is to relax. Of course, the idea of relaxing varies from person to person. Traveling encourages you to become a stronger, better version of yourself. Going through the experience of new cultures, new situations, and even new problems helps us to grow as better people.

Traveling forces you to step outside of your comfort zone which also means it gets you away from all the everyday stresses that come with daily life.

Freedom from my daily routine and responsibilities motivates me to focus on myself and what I enjoy doing, it just feels like recharging my batteries (No, I’m not a robot). A routine-wise life is essential but I often get demotivated because of it and sometimes it feels like I’m stuck in a routine!!

It’s a universal truth that if you’re not undertaking new experiences or encountering new motivations, you’re not growing.

"A ship in a harbor is safe but that is not what ships are built for"- John A. Shedd, a prominent American author, and businessman. The quote suggests that although it may be tempting to stay in one's comfort zone, true success lies in taking risks and venturing outside of it.

Isn’t traveling educational?

There is a difference between watching and doing. According to a Chinese proverb “Don’t listen to what they say, go and see.” The best way to learn about languages, cultures, and customs worldwide is to live it.

All of the best textbooks and media can’t be as effective as practical knowledge. Studies show that whether you study at home or abroad, real-world experience is most impactful.

Traveling to places like the UK and Italy can take you on a grand tour of human history which gives us a direct connection to the past, making that far-off history a more present reality.

We love all our educators, but we must admit there’s no better teacher than travel.

Isn’t traveling beneficial for physical & mental
health?

Travel gives a lot of advantages to our mental and physical health.

On top of relieving stress, traveling reduces emotional exhaustion like depression and anxiety. Moreover, it benefits our mental health by improving brain function and escalating happiness levels. Studies have found traveling also increases your creativity.

But that’s not all, travel has some excellent physical benefits too. For example, it can reduce your risk for coronary heart disease and improve your sleep functions.

Isn’t traveling useful to explore various cultures and trying new foods?

Traveling in and of itself is essential. But, specifically, international travel opens the door to diverse cultures and concepts worldwide.

Before Covid-19, I visited Kolkata and the place gives a clear view of the original Bengali tradition and Indian culture. In Durga puja and Diwali, I have seen how they celebrate them and spread happiness everywhere. Moreover, I have tasted local foods and an interesting fact about them is sometimes they are served on plates made of leaves. Each bite of local food offers a new lesson about how food is prepared, which ingredients are highlighted, and how food brings life to a pause as families and friends gather to share a meal. There’s always something new to discover and learn in other cultures, whether it’s how the locals prepare their food and go about their daily lives or how they celebrate life.

Doesn’t travel create a new appreciation for our own sweet home?

When you travel, you can say goodbye to familiar individuals and surroundings and say hello to brand-new, fascinating locations.

But if you've ever gone on a long tour, anywhere, you're undoubtedly familiar with the homesickness that comes along with it. You start to value both things you knew you'd miss and the ones you didn't. Like recently I had a tour of Napittachora Waterfall at Chittagong though it was a one-day tour, I missed the availability of pure drinking water which I got here at my home but in hilly tracts finding pure drinking water is a struggle.

So, after a long period of travel, it’s unbelievably satisfying to return home, drop your bags by the door, and collapse into your bed. The city that once felt suffocating feels healthy again.

Now that you know traveling has so many benefits, what are you waiting for?

Don’t let your idleness hold you back from something as important and life-changing as traveling.

Wishing you all the best for your trip. Enjoy every moment!🌻
